250 | Seven Islands, QC. It is the most northerly Quebec community with any sizable population on a paved road. The road to north-eastern Quebec essentially ends here. There is no access to communities like Blanc Sablon, Quebec which borders Labrador on the St Lawrence River. The town was developed in the 1950s when a railroad was built to Labrador so that iron ore could be brought down to the port of Sept-Isles. In the 1950s it was the 2nd largest port in tonnage in Canada!, 2nd to Vancouver. |
